New to woodcarving? why not try a 'Taster' Day?

Ideal if you would like to try some woodcarving and see if it is for you or your loved one. Our one day ‘Taster Day’ sessions or occasional days may be arranged either within the dates suggested above or at other times at a fee of £82 per person per day. Former students are always very welcome during the days that suit them, space permitting or at any other mutually convenient times. We can often offer accommodation in the Farmhouse or nearby, non-participating partners and well behaved pets are also very welcome to stay – we have many attractions in Devon and Cornwall, a short distance away.

Two students with decorative relief carvings
Desmond carved a relief panel which will be placed in a ceiling apex and Stina carved a door plaque
Two happy woodcarving students with their squirrel relief and a Yeti in walnut wood
Two happy woodcarvers showing their carvings of a squirrel and a yeti in walnut wood
Three friends with their first carvings
Three friends spent an enjoyable weekend together learning to carve wood

All fees include tuition, refreshments and lunches. A non-returnable deposit of £82 per person is payable on booking, with the balance to be paid when you are here, please, unless you are paying by Bank Transfer, in which case we may ask for payment in full before you arrive – unfortunately we cannot do Bank Transfers for balance payments due to network issues.

On receipt of your deposit or payment you will be sent confirmation of your booking and full information about your woodcarving tuition. If needed, we recommend that you arrange accommodation as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
